What Is OKX Dual Investment?
Dual Investment is a short-term structured product built into OKX Earn. You choose a token, target price and a term. At expiry, you always receive the agreed return. The only variable is which asset you receive it in, determined by whether the market reached your target price. There are two types: Buy Low and Sell High.
How Does Buy Low Work?
You subscribe with USDT and set a target price below the current market price. If the price at expiry is at or below your target, you receive BTC (bought at the target price) plus your return. If the price stays above your target, you keep your USDT plus your return.
Example: Buy BTC Low
BTC is at $95,000. You subscribe 10,000 USDT, target price $90,000, term rate 1.2%.
If BTC ≤ $90,000 at expiry: Settlement = 10,000 / 90,000 × (1 + 1.2%) = 0.1124 BTC (equivalent to 9,554 USDT if BTC = $85,000 for e.g.)
If BTC > $90,000 at expiry: Settlement = 10,000 × (1 + 1.2%) = 10,120 USDT
How Does Sell High Work?
You subscribe with BTC and set a target price above the current market price. If the price at expiry is at or above your target, your BTC is sold and you receive USDT plus your return. If the price stays below your target, you keep your BTC plus your return in BTC.
Example: Sell BTC High
BTC is at $95,000. You subscribe 0.1 BTC, target price $100,000, term rate 0.25%.
If BTC ≥ $100,000 at expiry: Settlement = 0.1 × 100,000 × (1 + 0.25%) = 10,025 USDT
If BTC < $100,000 at expiry: Settlement = 0.1 × (1 + 0.25%) = 0.10025 BTC (equivalent to 9,523 USDT if BTC = $95,000 for e.g.)
Key Terms
Target price is the benchmark that determines the settlement currency at expiry. A target closer to the current market price typically offers a higher term rate but increases the likelihood of conversion.
Term rate is the fixed return for the product's duration: APR / 365 × Term.
Expiration time is 16:00 UTC+8 on the expiration date.
Interest accrual time is the next whole hour after your subscription is confirmed. For example, subscribing at 14:15 UTC+8 means interest starts from 15:00 UTC+8.
Auto-Renewal
When enabled, your subscription automatically rolls into a new product on the same terms at expiry. Auto-renewal can be toggled at subscription or before a product expires.
Dual Investment and Your OKX VIP Tier
From Q2 2026, Dual Investment notional counts toward the Options 30-day trading volume used to calculate your OKX VIP tier. Consistent Dual Investment activity can qualify you for a higher tier, lowering fees across spot, futures, and options. The update happens automatically with no action required.
How Does It Compare to Earn and Spot Limit Orders?
Dual investment combines the best of both Earn & Spot Limit Orders, essentially allowing you to earn a yield while waiting for your target price to hit, although it comes with some risks.
Earn | Spot Limit Order | Dual Investment | |
Returns | Fixed | None unless the order executes | Fixed, regardless of outcome |
Settlement currency | Original currency only | Executes only if target is hit | Depends on market at expiry |
Yield while waiting | Yes | No | Yes |
Asset type conversion risk | No | No | Yes |
Risks
Non-principal protection. If you are converted into an asset that then falls in value, your total holding may be worth less than what you put in. The term rate does not cover large adverse moves.
Liquidity lock. Funds are locked until expiry. Early redemption is available for most pairs up to one hour before expiration but may result in receiving less than your initial amount, and only in the currency you subscribed with.
No guaranteed execution. If you run a Buy Low product hoping to accumulate BTC and the price never drops to your target, you earn USDT but do not buy BTC.

Is It Right for You?
Dual Investment suits users who have a market view, are comfortable holding either settlement currency, and want yield while they wait. It is not suited to users who need certainty over which currency they hold or who cannot absorb a sharp move against their converted position. For a simpler alternative with no conversion risk, see OKX Simple Earn.
